Most Useful Sensor
The most useful sensor I saw was temperature. It easily reacted and I could see definitive reactions for the sensor. It senses temperature around it. This sensor collects data about the room and outside temperature, and how sunny it is (heat from sun's rays). I might use this sensor to collect information from around campus by how the sun affects the temperature in different locations. For example, the temperature would be lower in an area where it's shady and the sun is farthest from than an area where the sun is directly beaming down with no shade. This could be taken from as far as the Carr Building to in front of the Main Building. Data Visualization from the Sensor I might use a spreadsheet to see the raw data collected. This could be used to find the average temperature throughout the school, the highest, lowest and the most seen temperature. Spreadsheets can be used to easily calculate raw, quantitative data. The kind of chart I would use is a pie chart because it shows bulks of data into a more condensed form, and shows abnormalities without being too repetitive. For example, in a line and bar graph it would be very repetitive and hard to see the small spikes without the right scale. Below is an 'Understanding Sensors' Infographic

Importance of Data Visualization
Data visualization is important because it takes large amounts of data into an easy-to-read images. This could include graphs, charts, spreadsheets, etc cetera. It could help make certain patterns more visible. This focuses on quantitative data. How Visualization Can be Used Data visualization can be used to manipulate copious amounts of number data. It would be easier to see trends or patterns earlier if the data is in pictures. It's also easier to read and see. What Would I Change and How As a student, I would change at least the dress code for school. I would take surveys of the students' opinions about the dress code, and how many people (girls in particular) were sent home or forced to change their outfits for a small violation of the dress code (only showing shoulders, skirts that are "too short", etc., ). I would take this data and present it, clearly showing evidence or information to the principal or whoever is in charge of the school code. Hopefully this would lead to some changes in the school dress code. |
